While we know The Joey Thomas Big Band is a solid, modern big band with a repertoire ranging from classic swing to the great American Songbook championed by Frank Sinatra to the latest JTBB celebration of the horn bands of the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s; there is no denying that The JTBB has deep roots in the jazz standards. So, with that in mind we ask what do the following have in common?

Louis Armstrong, Count Basie, Sidney Bechet, Bix Beiderbecke, Clifford Brown, Benny Carter, Charlie Christian, Ornette Coleman, John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Roy Eldridge, Duke Ellington, Gil Evans, Bill Evans, Ella Fitzgerald, Dizzy Gillespie, Benny Goodman, Coleman Hawkins, Earl Hines, Johnny Hodges, Billie Holiday, Jo Jones, Charles Mingus, Thelonious Monk, Jelly Roll Morton, King Oliver, Charlie Parker, Djano Reinhardt, Max Roach, Sony Rollins, Bessie Smith, Art Tatum, Fats Waller, Mary Lou Williams, and Lester Young.

They have all been inducted into the Jazz Hall of Fame housed at Lincoln Center and honors the legendary musicians whose singular dedication and outstanding contribution to this art form shaped the landscaped of jazz.
