0 Condolences: Michael J. Wicks (1945-2014)

Joey Thomas and the members of The Joey Thomas Big Band are saddened to learn of the passing of our friend and fellow player Michael Joseph Wicks. Our deepest condolences go out to his family.

Mike played on and off over the years with The Joey Thomas Big Band and always had something to contribute in humor and musicianship. He will be missed by all in the Capital Region music community.

0 The JTBB Joins Steven Maglio for his “Sounds of Sinatra” Show (Sat, Nov 1st, 2014 • Callicoon, NY)

One can usually find vocalist Steven Maglio at The Carnegie Club in New York City on a Saturday night, but this November 1st he’ll be bringing his “Sounds of Sinatra” show to the Catskill Mountains at the Villa Roma Resort. And, he’s asked The Joey Thomas Big Band to join him.

The Joey Thomas Big Band helps Watertown and the Italian American Civic Associaion celebrate Italian heritage at the BRAVO ITALIANO FESTIVAL in Watertown. Vocalist Bob Father joins The JTBB in the big band’s signature Sinatra Show. The ultimate tribute to the Italian American heritage in us all and the Great American Songbook.

For the 30th Annual BRAVO ITALIANO FESTIVAL presented by the Watertown Italian American Civic Association, members of The Joey Thomas Big Band will be backing Franco Corso the newest Pop-Opera Recording Artist on the International scene. With his sultry, deep, tenor voice, he has captured the hearts of fans worldwide with his unique blend of pop Italian and American operatic style and is said to have a voice that “melts hearts and instills passion.”

In a special fundraiser for the Fishkill Police Benevolent Association, The Joey Thomas Big Band is proud to perform The Sinatra Show featuring vocalist Bob Father. With a 90 minute show, The JTBB takes you into the world of Frank Sinatra through favorites from The Great American Songbook and more.

We hope you’ll join us in supporting the Fishkill PBA and enabling resources for the law enforcement officers and the Fishkill community!

Be sure to catch us at Riverlink Park right on the Mohawk River. There is a dock for boats to pull up to and plenty of space to dance. Just be sure to bring comfortable shoes! 😀

The Saratoga SAVOY’s Diamond Dance swings into action on Friday November 21st with The Joey Thomas Big Band! The JTBB begins to play at 8:00 PM, but there is a free beginner dance lesson at 7:30 PM.

At the Diamond Dance you will enjoy hours of live music performed by The Joey Thomas Big Band. During band breaks, take advantage of the dance demonstrations and continue dancing to music provided by the DJ or check out the art exhibits. Free snacks are available!
