Charlie Guerin - 2nd Alto

Charlie holds Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from the Manhattan School of Music and a Doctorate in Music Education from Columbia University. His performing experience includes work “on the road” with the Ralph Flanagan, Johnnie Long and Les Elgart Bands, as well as numerous “club dates” in the Long Island and New York City areas.

As a music educator, Charlie taught band and orchestra at Sewanhaka High School in Nassau County, Long Island, eventually assuming the positions of Music Department Chairman and District Coordinator of Music in the Sewanhaka Central High School District.

He and his wife moved to the Colonie in 2002 where he immediately became active in local bands and orchestras, performing with the Upstate Swing Band, the Georgie Wonders Big Band and the Memorial Concert Band of Colonie.

Charlie plays alto saxophone, clarinet and flute with the Joey Thomas Big Band.
